Big Things Ahead Not much activity to report outside of a few more mysterious feathers. I'm still hoping for a flyby from Mothman himself but we'll have to wait and see- there's a hunt planned soon that'll hopefully turn up something more substantial. In less mysterious news, the Cryptonomica is going live! For Kepler locals, Saturday Night Dead will starting airing this Saturday night on WKWV so tune in for some classic horror. For everyone else, I'll try to figure out streaming. Service is pretty limited out here but that hasn't stopped me from getting out the finest in underground cryptid reporting. BIGFOOT VS. BOBCAT??? I know I promised more updates on the Smokey situation but this is even better. I had plans to go out searching for any signs of it but ended up spending the day watching over the shop. While I was killing time waiting for one of y'all to show up I started looking through some footage Ned had shot the other day. And now Ned is no Fujimoto but this footage is still worth watching- a brutal fight between none other than Bigfoot and what seems to be a very ill bobcat. I've included a highlight reel here but for the full video, visit the Cryptonomica. Located as always at 43 Bedlam Street, Kepler, West Virginia. Smokey? Big news from the small town of Kepler! One anonymous source has shared their Friday night encounter with a large mammalian cryptid in the Monongahela National Forest and it seems it may be something entirely new, at least to me. My source described it as large, 8 or so feet and similar to a bear, but with 'patchwork' fur and a horn-like protrusion coming from its shoulder. My first thought was it was our beloved friend Bigfoot but the horn doesn't fit the bill and neither does the encounter- unlike our gentle giant this creature attacked our source and a friend, chasing them back to their camp. It retreated and seemed to be staved off by fire which is why I've chosen to refer to this newcomer as Smokey- a potentially intelligent bear with an aversion to fire. My source had also taken a shot at Smokey and when I inspected the area I found trace amounts of what seemed to be dried blood, though it was hard to tell after all that rain. The source mentioned that local ranger Duck Newton had become involved that night but when I reached out to him he said it was just some drunk locals getting worked up over a black bear and refused to elaborate. That was the last bit of convincing I needed- why wouldn't he be willing to tell me about a run of the mill bear? There's something bigger here.
